  • A term used to refer to any random large block of data that is stored in a database, such as a video clips, sound files or document content data.

  • Typically, database management systems provide methods to create, delete or replace these objects, without the ability to interpret the contents of these objects.

  • BLOB (undetermined binary data type), such as an Excel spreadsheet, a PDF file, or a Word file.
